Honda Unveils New Home Solar Hydrogen Refueling

Honda Motor Co. (NYSE: HMC) revealed a new generation of its home hydrogen refueling station that it believes will be a key to the success of future hydrogen-powered vehicles.

The unit is powered by solar panels. Eight hours of solar refueling provide only enough hydrogen for about 30 miles of travel. This is meant to supplement fast charging at commercial stations–of which there are currently only a few in California.

With it FCX Clarity model, Honda is leading the push for fuel-cell vehicles, while other automakers focus primarily on electric vehicles.

Due in part to its fuel-cell research, Honda again topped the list of cleantech patent submissions in 2009.

Your articles focus attempts to create a Myth that the Honda Hydrogen Fuel Cell Clarity is limited to a 30 mile range on a Home Solar systems.
That’s total nonsense, that any average reader can see through.
Sure Solar photo-voltaics gathers electrical power slowly, BUT you don’t have to chain your H2 Car to the Solar panel array.
Solar PV systems drip their DC power back into the Electrical grid, which can occur during the day when electrical rates are high.
The H2 refueling can be generated off the grid at night when rates are low. If you need more H2 fuel, you just keep filling and you are buying power from the consolidated electricity sources, natural gas, hydro, wind, nuclear, and coal.
So even when a single person owns Solar PV and an H2 car, the two can run independently, at home.
If you don’t drive the car for a few weeks, the Solar PV system keeps on working, generating electricity, supplying juice to the grid and turning your electric meter backwards.
Solar PV is independent from the Oven in the kitchen too, as well. One works during the day, the other gets used for dinner time.
Your article is the same as saying, you can only cook a turkey 30% after eight hours.

The only limitation of the Honda Hydrogen Fuel Cell Clarity is that they are not SOLD to the PUBLIC.
It may take an Act of Congress, to force the sale of H2 vehicles!

What can http://www.sustainablebusiness.com do to encourage Honda to begin Selling the Clarity?
