The City of Austin, Texas may have successfully lured China’s Yingli Green Energy Holding Company Ltd. (NYSE: YGE) to set up a manufacturing facility for solar power, according to the Austin Business Journal.
Phoenix, Arizona was previously at the top of Yingli’s list for a first North American facility, however Austin is offering incentives worth about $354,000, and Arizona may be in the process of shooting itself in the foot on renewables–the state is considering weakening its renewable energy standard (RES).
Yingli has proposed to invest about $19.8 million in a facility tha is expected to create 300 solar jobs by 2013.
