US Losing Out on 'Clean Energy Gold Rush'

The US is losing out on a "clean energy gold rush," according to the director of the sustainable development program at the Rockefeller Brothers Fund.

Michael Northrop points out that of the 10 largest wind power companies, only one–GE (NYSE: GE)–is in the US. And for solar power, the US has only First Solar (Nasdaq: FSLR) and SunPower (Nasdaq: SPWRA, SPWRB)–both of which do the majority of their production in Asia.

The clean energy market is projected to be worth $2 trillion by 2020, and a recent Deutsch Bank report says that the nations with the best policies are the ones who will get the biggest pieces of the pie. The US does not have such policies.
