Moderate Congressional Democrats continue to stymie the Obama Administration’s plans for reducing the nation’s greenhouse gas emissions.
Two senior members of the House of Representatives have introduced a plan that would block the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from regulating emissions. Reps. Collin Peterson (D-Minn.) and Ike Skelton (D-Mo.) are the heads of the Agriculture and Armed Services committees, respectively.
Peterson released a statement saying that "Congress should be making these types of decisions, not unelected bureaucrats at the EPA.”

This so-called ‘Plan B’ is the path supported by conservative-leaning Democrats in the US Senate, who say they fear harming the economy (particularly in an election year).
Mother Jones points out that the energy bill being considered contains so many concessions to the oil, coal, gas and nuclear industries that it is likely to increase greenhouse gas emissions from these sectors.
