The New York Power Authority (NYPA) has issued a solar photovoltaic Request for Proposal (RFP) for up to 100 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity.
The Authority is seeking to identify and select Solar PV developers with whom it will execute Allocation Agreements and Power Purchase Agreements.
NYPA seeks installations hosted at customer-owned facilities, including schools, public universities and colleges, state and local government facilities, municipal electric utilities and rural electric cooperatives.
NYPA is a corporate municipal instrumentality and political subdivision of the State of New York that provides low-cost electricity to governmental agencies, municipal electric systems, rural electric cooperatives, manufacturers and to investor-owned utilities for resale without profit to retail customers across New York State. The Authority operates 18 generating facilities and more than 1,400 circuit-miles of transmission lines.
In addition, the Authority is in the field of energy services including the development of clean and renewable energy technologies and the promotion of energy efficiency. It has committed more than $100 million per year to energy services with cumulative investments aggregating to more than $1.1 billion since the program’s inception.
Installation of solar projects is expected to begin in 2010.
NYPA will hold a bidders conference March 22 followed by a deadline for submissions of April 2.
