Ampulse Corp, which manufactures thin-film solar cells based on a patented crystalline-silicon (c-Si) thin-film technology, has raised a Series A round of $8 million.
The company’s patented manufacturing process involves depositig c-Si on a flexible substrate. The technology combines the efficiency of c-Si with low manufacturing costs and the flexibility of thin-film solar.
Globespan Capital Partners and El Dorado Ventures led the round, which also included existing investors Battelle Ventures and Innovation Valley Partners.
Ampulse has research partnerships with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).
