Two weeks of international climate change negotiations conclude in Bangkok today, and delegates from Saudi Arabia insist they need financial assistance to adapt to the impacts of a warming climate, according to an Associated Press report.
The International Energy Agency reported lst week that OPEC revenues will still grow fourfould between 2008 and 2030, even if the world reduces its greenhouse gas emissions under a new climate change treaty.
However, the head of the Saudi delegation said the IEA figures are biased and that OPEC estimates show lost revenue of $19 billion a year for Saudi Arabia under a new treaty.
Arab environmental group IndyACT and the environmental group Germanwatch released a report Thursday accusing Saudi Arabia of working against the ongoing negotiations.
