Satcon Technology Selected for Utility-Scale PV Plant

Satcon Technology (Nasdaq: SATC) has been selected to supply components for a 5 MW AC facility in Mendota, California.

The CalRENEW-1 installation is the first utility-scale PV solar plant to be approved by the California Public Utilities Commission under the state’s Renewable Portfolio Standard program.

Satcon will contribute its fully integrated utility platform which provides turnkey factory integrated medium voltage transformers, switchgear, and electronics.

Satcon’s Prism platform delivered in an all-climate outdoor enclosure that’s ready to connect to the PV array and utility grid, enabling rapid, modular expansion of PV lines.

CalRENEW-1 will be one of the most advanced photovoltaic solar facilities in the world. Pacific Gas & Electric is purchasing the energy under a long term power purchase agreement.

Said Steve Rhoades, Satcon CEO, "Our continued focus on developing the highest performing, most reliable, and most advanced utility ready solar PV inverter systems allow us to deliver the solutions that enable utilities to effectively integrate solar power as a secure and cost effective renewable energy source."
