The Obama administration on Tuesday released a controversial e-mail sent from the Environmental Protection Agency to the Bush administration in December 2007.
The e-mail and its attached document stated the dangers posed to public welfare by greenhouse gases.
The White House refused to open the e-mail, holding firm to its position that the Clean Air Act should not be used to address climate change. The Bush administration also refused to release the document after news of its existence spread.
Current EPA administrator Lisa Jackson said Tuesday, "The conclusions reached then by the EPA scientists should have been made public and should have been considered."
