Elster Group, a leader in smart metering and SmartGrid systems and solutions, announced the acquisition of EnergyICT NV.
EnergyICT provides smart metering and smart grid solutions and is headquartered in Belgium with sales offices across Europe, the USA and Australia.
Elster said the acquisition will further strengthen its Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and SmartGrid portfolio, and broadens its expertise in the systems and services markets. The EnergyICT acquisition provides Elster with a proven head-end and Meter Data Management System (MDM) to complement its position in multi-utility solutions to customers across the globe.
EnergyICT, which was founded in 1991, will continue to serve utilities and other metering, AMI and SmartGrid providers directly, according to a release.
The completion of the transaction is subject to merger control clearance in some European countries.
Elster says it has delivered more than 3.0 million smart metering devices worldwide with more than 60 systems located in North America, Europe, Central America, Australia, New Zealand and the Caribbean. Elster has more than 7,500 staff and operations in 38 countries, focused in North and South America, Europe, and Asia.
