Spire Forms Solar India Subsidiary

U.S. solar company Spire Corporation (Nasdaq: SPIR) announced the expansion of its international presence by establishing a subsidiary, Spire Solar India, LLC.

Spire provides capital equipment to manufacture PV modules, turnkey manufacturing lines and solar PV systems. The Spire Solar India subsidiary is a Delaware limited liability company.

The subsidiary will locate its representative office in New Delhi and aid in sales, provide customer communications, provide after-service capabilities, and serve as a regional headquarters for equipment service operations.

Roger G. Little, Chairman and CEO, said, “Spire Solar has experienced success in India, having already installed multiple turnkey factories and equipment. This new office will enhance our reach and ensure Indian customers our pledge to not only put them in the PV business, but keep them there, every step of the way.”

“India is expected to be among the fastest growing markets for PV demand and has recently introduced the Solar Power Policy – 2009, which promotes generalization of green and clean power through solar energy and promotion of local manufacturing facilities.” Mr. Little continued, “There is a sizable amount of uncultivated land which is ideal for massive production of solar energy. With Spire Solar’s market penetration, India gains an efficient way to boost its country’s economy, and with that, the world’s.”

Spire has provided manufacturing lines in India for GreenBrilliance and Alpex Exports. In January, the company announced a strategic relationship with Hind High Vacuum Company Private Limited (HHV) located in Bangalore.

Spire Solar Systems Expands Focus on the Federal Market

In other company news, Spire announced the expansion of Spire Solar Systems towards the federal systems market.

Spire Solar Systems is now a full-service organization, offering system designs and project management to accommodate those federal organizations required to achieve the mandated renewable energy goals of 7.5% by 2013 required by the Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPACT).

Spire said its engineers have experience in dealing with requirements of federal building codes, and the company’s payback analysis modeling has been developed specifically for the federal market by taking into consideration the idiosyncrasies of the U.S. stimulus package, also known as the America Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009.

“We are an American company that creates American jobs by providing PV systems to the federal government,” said Roger G. Little, Chairman and CEO of Spire Corporation. “Spire Solar Systems is also an outlet for modules manufactured by our turnkey module line customers. This connection supports our overall strategy of encouraging distributed local module manufacturing.”
