Rumors of takeovers have boosted the shares of greenhouse gas emissions trading and offsetting companies, according to a Reuters report.
EcoSecurities (ECO.L), Camco International (CAO.L), Trading Emissions (TRE.L) and Climate Exchange (CLE.L) saw share prices rise from 12% to 78% in June.
EcoSecurities rejected two buyout offers, while numerous investors
substantially increased their holdings in the other companies. The possibility of a large cap-and-trade market in the U.S. undoubtedly has heightened interest in these firms.
