Shares of numerous Canadian cleantech companies fell Tuesday after the British Columbia Utilities Commission rejected the long-term business plan of utility BC Hydro.
Companies like Plutonic Power Corp and Naikun Wind Energy Group Inc. were expected to win renewable power supplly contracts through BC Hydro’s clean power call issued last year.
The future of that call is now in question. Regulators reportedly are concerned that the utility will not be capable of meeting a provincial mandate for self-sufficiency by 2016.
