Democratic Leaders Push Hard for Climate Bill

Regardless of what you may think of the Waxman-Markey bill, you can’t
say that Democratic leaders haven’t worked hard to pass the climate and
energy billi in the House of Representatives. 

No news yet about the vote scheduled for today,
but by all reports the Democrats pulled out all the stops in a
last-minute effort to secure the needed votes from moderate Democrats
who may be worried about supporting a bill labeled as an energy tax by
Republicans. 

House speaker Nancy Pelosi, former Vice President Al Gore and
President Obama all worked the phones yesterday evening to rally the
troops.
