Engineering company M+W Zander has designed and built a new solar cell manufacturing facility for Q-Cells (QCE.DE) in Malaysia, and has handed over the facility on schedule, according to a M+W Zander release.
The three-story solar-cell factory, with eight production lines, has an annual output of 500 megawatts MW. Q-Cells’ order included site master planning, detailed design, and procurement and construction management, followed by installation of all process equipment.
Q-Cells did not commented on the start-up schedule for the new facility.
In addition to the site master planning, M+W Zander was also responsible for design and coordination of the process media systems within the newly developed science park.
Following a tough 1Q09, Q-Cells sold its stake in REC (REC.OL) and issued convertible bonds to improve its cash position.
