BP Solar, RGE to Build 46MW Solar Installation

BP Solar has entered into a partnership agreement with RGE Energy to develop one of the world’s largest solar projects.

The large-scale installation will have a power-generating capacity of more than 46 megawatts (MW). It will be built in Koethen, Germany.

BP Solar will supply around 210,000 crystalline photovoltaic modules with an output of 220 watt peak each to be installed by RGE Energy.

The project launch is planned for 3Q09 and all solar modules are expected to be installed by the end of the year.

BP Solar is offering a guarantee on yield for the solar modules it supplies.

The overall agreement calls for RGE and BP Solar to develop 81 MW of solar projects in Germany. In addition to Koethen, other projects planned include a 15-MW solar system at Eberswalde airport and an option for another 15 MW.

BP Solar  said in 2008, it sold 162 megawatt (MW) of solar modules and has the capability and resources to sell up to 320 MW in 2009 subject to market conditions.
