Obama to Establish Interagency Biofuels Group

President Obama plans to create a Biofuels Interagency Working Group to be headed by the secretaries of the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Energy and the Department of Agriculture, according to a Reuters report.

The news agency said it obtained a draft memo in which the President will ask the agencies to identify policies that would make biofuels more environmentally sound and encourage production of "flex-fuel" cars.

Reportedly, Obama will ask the group to establish a development program for the country’s first biofuel market and to indentify options for improving the environmental impact of biofuels production.

The EPA is expected to proposed rules today for measuring the greenhouse gas emissions associated with biofuels.
