Thin-film solar company OptiSolar has reduced its work force by half and stopped construction on its Sacramento, California manufacturing plant, due to a lack of funding, according to a Reuters report.
The company said the scale-down would not affect its deal with PG&E Corp (PCG.N) to build a 550-megawatt solar power plant in central California beginning in 2010.
The company said that it is applying for loan guarantees from the U.S. Department of Energy.
