Fast food giant McDonald’s is working with an Arizona company to cut energy costs and increase efficiency of its stores worldwide, according to a report in The Arizona Republic.
Engenuity Systems Inc. will help McDonald’s adopt systems to shut off lights and control heating and air conditioning, among other automated efficiency measures.
McDonald’s, which spends $1.5 billion a year on energy including cooking, lighting, heating and cooling, expects to slash energy costs by 13.6%.
Engenuity Systems Inc. will supply hardware and software and choose local companies arond the world to install and maintain systems. The company got the go-ahead after installing equipment at a McDonald’s location in Illinois.
