Union Fenosa to Double Australia's Wind Capacity

Published on: December 3, 2008

Spainish power company Union Fenosa (UFN.L) plans to build seven wind farms in Australia that will double the country’s wind power capacity, according to a Reuters report.

Union Fenosa’s investment in the projects is expected to be US$1.2 billion, and the wind farms are expected to be online in 2013, adding an additional 850 megawatts (MW) of wind power.

Australia currently has only 42 wind farms providing approximately 0.5% of the nation’s electricity.
