Greengate Power Receives Approval for 550MW of Wind Projects

Greengate Power Corporation has received municipal approvals for the construction of three wind projects in Alberta, Canada totaling 550 megawatts (MW).

These approvals were provided by the counties of Lethbridge, Warner, Vulcan and Paintearth. The three projects, Blackspring Ridge (300MW), Halkirk (150MW) and Stirling (100MW) will have a capital cost in excess of $1 billion, and once completed, will provide a clean source of power to approximately 200,000 Alberta homes. Greengate expects to begin construction on the projects in 2009 or 2010.

Greengate Power Corporation is a wind power developer based in Calgary,
Alberta. The company is focused on the development of quality wind
projects in Alberta and Ontario in areas with available transmission
capacity. Greengate is currently developing more than 1,590MW of wind
projects on approximately 150,000 acres of private land in Alberta and
Ontario.
