Energy has been a central issue in the presidential campaigns, but there are also many other important environmental issues.

Other key environmental issues include Clinton’s "Roadless Rule" for Forest Service land. President Bush froze enactment of the rule on his first day in office, and his administration has attempted numerous times since to have it discarded.
