Fuel Tech, Inc. (NASDAQ: FTEK), a leader in advanced engineering solutions for combustion systems in utility and industrial applications, announced it was awarded numerous air pollution control orders totaling $2.6 million. Principal among these was an order for a NOxOUT ULTRA® system to be installed as part of a power plant expansion at a major university in Texas.
The Company also received a contract for an international NOxOUT® Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction (SNCR) demonstration on a utility boiler and orders for supplemental equipment purchases related to previously announced NOxOUT SNCR and NOxOUT ULTRA systems.
Fuel Tech’s NOxOUT ULTRA process provides for on-site conversion of urea to ammonia for use as a reagent in the selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxide (NOx), eliminating the hazards associated with the transport, storage and handling of anhydrous or aqueous ammonia.
John F. Norris Jr., President and CEO, commented, "We view electricity and steam generating stations at institutions of higher learning an attractive niche market for our NOxOUT ULTRA systems, as the use of safe urea-to-ammonia conversion technology is of paramount concern in these environments. We continue to pursue such opportunities aggressively."
