Enel To Buy PV Modules From Trina Solar, Suntech

Italy’s largest power company, Enel.si, a subsidiary of Enel (ENEL.MI) has signed separate agreements with Trina Solar Ltd. (NYSE: TSL) and Suntech Power Hoding Co. Ltd. (NYSE: STP) for the supply of photovoltaic modules.

Under terms of a two-year agreement, Trina Solar will supply Enel with a total of 17 megawatts (MW) of PV modules starting in 2008, which includes 15 MW of scheduled delivery for 2009 at fixed prices.

Under a separate two-year agreement, Suntech will supply 30 megawatts of modules in late 2008 and 2009.

Italy’s current regulations make it one of the most attractive growth markets in the solar PV industry.
