PV Crystalox Solar plc (PC1.BE), a manufacturer of solar wafers and ingots, announced a contract with SpectraWatt, a newly formed spin-off from Intel’s New Business Initiative.
The agreement is for the supply of multicrystalline wafers with a total output of 125 megawatts (MW) from 2009-2013. The contract includes predetermined prices and volumes.
Commenting on the agreement, Iain Dorrity, Chief Executive of PV Crystalox said, "SpectraWatt is an exciting new venture which will strengthen our customer portfolio and we look forward to a long and fruitful partnership"
Intel Capital, Intel’s global investment organization, is leading a $50 million investment round in SpectraWatt and is joined by Cogentrix Energy, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc., PCG Clean Energy and Technology Fund (CETF) and Solon AG. SOLON’s share in SpectraWatt is approximately 16%.
