If you’ve been following presidential politics over the last year, you’ve probably noticed a growing number of references to green jobs.
Obama, Clinton and McCain all tout the promises of these new jobs that will be created by a move in the U.S. to cap greenhouse gas emissions and establish greater independence from foreign-produced oil.
But what denotes a green job and where will these millions of positions come from? Phil Angelides, a venture capitalist and the 2006 Democratic candidate for governor of California defines a green job as one that pays decent wages and benefits, offers a career path with upward mobility and benefits the environment by reducing waste and/or pollution.
