A lobbying firm fighting against a proposed wind farm off Cape Cod might be partially funded by international energy conglomerate Oxbow Corp., which mines and markets energy and commodities, including coal, natural gas and petroleum, according to a Boston Globe report.
The lobbying firm BKSH & Associates, which was recently hired by the Alliance to Protect Nantucket Sound, filed a federal document last month that listed Oxbow as a funder. The Alliance immediately claimed the filing was a mistake and the lobbyists amended the document to remove Oxbow.
Oxbow’s founder, William I. Koch is a cochairman of the Alliance.
Oxbow referred the Alliance to BKSH and assisted in early strategy sessions, according to BKSH lobbyist Rich Meade.
BKSH reported amended the document filed with the US Senate Office of Public Records, after the Globe inquired about it, removing the reference to Oxbow and changing the start date of its work with the Alliance from April to February.
Audra Parker, a spokeswoman for Alliance to Protect Nantucket Sound said, "There has been no financial contribution from Oxbow for BKSH lobbying efforts."
The proposal to build the wind farm has been under review by various government agencies for seven years.
