Clean Mobile AG, a company that designs and builds fuel cell powered drives for small vehicles like city scooters, wheel chairs and small delivery vehicles, announced that it has received $5.1 million in first-round funding
The Munich-based startup has developed a hybrid electric drive system that uses fuel cells to keep vehicles charged. The company says a gallon of methanol can keep batteries charged even after running hundreds of kilometers without connection to the electric grid.
The company says emissions from the fuel cells are water vapor, limited heat and small levels of carbon dioxide.
The funding round was led by Earlybird and Silicon Valley Technology Group (SVTG) and will be used to prove commercial viability of the vehicles, according to a release.
Seed investor High Tech Grinder Fonds (HTGF) also participated in the round.
