EDF Energies Nouvelles (Paris:EEN) signed an agreement for the development and construction of the Crane Creek wind power project in Iowa on behalf of a third party. The 99 megawatt (MW) wind farm will be completed in 2009.
The agreement between enXco, the US subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles, and Wisconsin Public Service Corporation (WPSC), a regional public utility supplying electricity and gas, covers the development and construction of a wind farm of 66 GE (NYSE: GE) turbines, each with 1.5 MW in unit capacity.
The development and construction of wind farms on behalf of third parties represents an integral part of EDF Energies Nouvelles’ strategy. This Development and Sale of Structured Assets (DSSA) business is carried out in response to demand from American utilities, the company said.
