EDF Energies Nouvelles Partners with Nanosolar

EDF Energies Nouvelles (EEN.PA) will purchase solar panels from Silicon Valley-based Nanosolar beginning in 2009, the company announced. 

Nanosolar manufactures thin-film photovoltaic cells of Copper-Indium-Gallium-Selenide (CIGS) using a printing deposition process.  

EDF Energies Nouvelles said a contract between the two company’s secures a supply of the non-silicon solar panels at competitive prices. is thus securing its supply of panels at competitive prices, helping the company expand its solar activities in North America.

In parallel to the signing of the panel supply agreement, EDF Energies Nouvelles, is also contributing $50 million to an equity financing round completed by Nanosolar to further accelerate the company’s production ramp.
