In recent years, the common wisdom has been that it is better to eat locally grown food in order to reduce the carbon emissions required to transport food long distances. However recent studies are casting doubt on the validity of this thinking.
Locally grown food has numerous advantages, however when it comes to carbon emissions, it may be that the method by which the food is grown has a greater effect on greenhouse gas emissions than transportation.
