Credit Suisse (NYSE: CS) pledged last week to invest at least $300 million in green energy projects through a patnership with private equity firm Hudson Clean Energy Partners.
Specifics of the deal were not released, though it was announced that John Cavalier, head of Credit Suisse’s renewable energey sector, will join Hudson as a partner to assist in leading the investments.
"Credit Suisse has been looking to invest its own capital in renewable energy for a long time," Cavalier said. "I am highly confident that Hudson will become the premier private equity firm in the clean energy sector for years to come."
Brian Finn, chairman of alternative investments at Credit Suisse, said that the company believed the partnership would help exploit "a real untapped opportunity in this attractive asset class", adding that the bank would provide Hudson with access to expertise in "developed and emerging markets, alternative investments, and renewable energy investment banking, as well as deal flow".
