DHL customers in the Asia Pacific region can now choose to pay a 3% green premium to ship packages carbon neutral.
The GoGreen Express service is part of a range of GoGreen carbon-neutral and low-carbon shipping options launched by the German-based shipping company in Europe in January 2007.
DHL said the 3% premium is added to the standard shipping rate and goes to certified carbon management programs, including alternative fuel vehicle technology, solar installations and reforestation projects.
GoGreen Express customers will receive an annual certificate from DHL totaling the amount of CO2 offsets accrued by their "green premium."
DHL said the Swiss-based Societe Generale de Surveillance will verify the program.
