GE Demonstrates Roll-to-Roll OLED Manufacturing

GE (NYSE: GE) announced that it’s Global Research and Consumer & Industrial divisions have successfully demonstrated what it says is the world’s first roll-to-roll manufactured organic light-emitting diode (OLED) lighting devices.

The technology could have a significant impact in the manufacturing techniques for orgnic electronic devices, including organic photovoltaics for the solar energy industry. 

GE said the demonstration is the completion of a four-year, $13 million research collaboration with Energy Conversion Devices Inc. (NasdaqGS: ENER) and the U.S. Commerce Department’s National Institute of Standards and Technology.
