Conergy AG (CGYG.DE) continued its restructuring effort last week, selling off its solar thermal production in Althofen, Austria to focus on its position as a supplier in the solar power business.
The Althofen-based Conergy GmbH unit, produces solar thermal collectors and markets them in Austria and Italy to local wholesalers and installers. The buyer is David Klemen who had previously worked for Conergy Austria in the capacity of "Manager Production and Development."
Klemen said, "I am very happy about the swift conclusion. Althofen has 35 highly motivated employees, all of whom will continue working for us. With their support I intend to further push ahead the solar thermal business in Austria and Italy under a new flag. We shall make further major investments, and expand our position in the solar thermal market. We will remain associated with Conergy as a customer."
The sale of the production in Althofen is already the second key step for the Conergy Group on the road to becoming a focussed supplier in the solar power business. At the end of February, the Hamburg solar Group successfully hived-off its thermal activities in Belgium and the Netherlands. Further sales are planned.
