China May Scrap One-Child Policy

China is considering lifting the controversial one-child policy it has had in place since the 1970’s. Established in an effort to control the growth of the nation’s population, which is by far the largest in the world, the rule may be loosened in the years ahead, due to concerns about an aging population.

However, Chinese officials say they will not do away with family planning policies altogether, as the nation continues to struggle with limited land, water and energy resources.
