RTLC to Build Wind Towers

RTLC Industries Inc. plans to use it’s experience in supplying large-diameter pipes to the water and wastewater industry to jump into the wind power industry, building towers for wind turbines.

The company has created a subsidiary, called RTLC Windtowers Inc., which it says will draw on the experience of RTLC Piping Products Inc. to design and manufacture windtowers.

RTLC president and CEO Billy Terrell said the company will bring "over 100 combined years of large-diameter tubular structures manufacturing experience to this exciting industry. Our experience in the fabrication, welding, coating and lining of hundreds of miles of large OD pipe will allow us to offer a high-quality product to our customers."

RTLC said it will begin construction on a new plant soon in McGregor, Texas with phase I of the project going online sometime this year. According to the company, the facility will be able to produce 800 towers a year with the addition of production capacity in 2009.

Terrell said, "This new facility will feature the latest technology in cutting, rolling, welding and coating operations, along with specialized equipment of our own design that we’ve developed over the years."
