Phoenix Solar Contracts for EUR 100M PV Plants

A subsidiary of Phoenix Solar (PS4.DE), Phoenix Solar Energy Investments AG, announced it would start building ground-mounted PV plants with peak outputs of between 1-10 megawatts (MW). The company plans to sell the turn-key plants to German and foreign investors for a projected EUR 100 million for 2008-2009.

Bürgerservice GmbH has been contracted to do the project development in the region of Trier, and will be involved in the production, taking over module assembly, and excavation. Phoenix will be responsible for maintenance.

Bürgerservice is a non-profit which, since its founding in 1987, hires people who need to enter the labor market, helping them gain valuable career skills.

Horst Schneider, Managing Director of Bürgerservice, says, "We can create more solar jobs and secure them long term while making an important contribution to the sustainable supply of energy."
