Evergreen Solar (Nasdaq: ESLR) pleasantly surprised investors with a quarterly profit when they were expecting another loss.
Q4 income was $788,000, or a penny per share, compared with a loss of $3.7 million, or 4 cents per share, for the quarter last year. Revenues of $22.2 million also exceeded estimates of $20.2 million.
Its partnership in Germany-based EverQ, a joint venture with Q-Cells AG (QCEG.DE) and Renewable Energy Corp ASA (REC.OL) accounted for about a quarter of Evergreen’s revenue.
