A vote to extend federal renewable energy tax credits is expected on Wednesday, February 6th.
Urge Senators Lugar (R-IN), Ensign (R-NV), Gregg (R-NH), Crapo (R-ID), Brownback (R-KS), Stevens (R-AK), Allard (R-CO), Coleman (R-MN), Thune (R-SD), and Domenici (R-NM) to vote to extend the expiring renewable energy tax credits in the stimulus package. If you live in one of these states, please call your senator asap.
The renewable energy production tax credit (PTC) and the solar investment tax credit (ITC) will expire at the end of 2008. Uncertainty about them is already jeopardizing the development of new wind farms, solar installations and geothermal projects–and the wind jobs they create. These renewable energy tax credits are the fastest way to develop renewable energy.
A cloture vote on the Senate Finance Committee’s Stimulus Package, which includes the extension of the tax credits, is expected Wednesday. Ask your senators to vote for cloture on the Senate Finance Committee’s Stimulus
Package. The continued growth of renewable energy, as a source of new investment and jobs, should be protected as part of the stimulus package.
(NOTE: The House’s stimulus package does not include the tax credit extensions.)
The senators listed above are crucial to winning the vote.
