Southridge Enterprises, Inc. (OTCBB:SORD) yesterday announced that it has acquired an option to purchase land for an ethanol plant near Dallas, Texas.
Southridge says it is evaluating numerous site location criteria to determine whether the proposed site is suitable for the construction and operation of a 50 million gallon per year (MGY) ethanol plant.
Southridge’s site location criteria include access to an abundant supply of corn, access to multiple modes of transportation for corn, ethanol and distillers grains, availability of a sufficient amount of water, availability of natural gas and other necessary utilities and infrastructure, and access to a qualified labor force.
The proposed plant near Dallas would be a 50 MGY natural gas fired, dry-grind ethanol facility. A plant of this size typically consumes approximately 18 million bushels of corn and produces 160,000 tons of dried distillers grains annually, according to the company.
It says the new facility will bring the company’s total expected ethanol production capacity to 80 million gallons of ethanol per year, through three facilities.
