Fortune Group, based in Gueishan, Taiwan, is creating an affiliated company, Sunner Solar Corp. to begin production of thin-film solar cells in Taiwan.
Production is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2008 and will be supported by a package contract for the purchase and introduction of product lines by Japan-based ULVAC Inc.
Sunner Solar says it intends to increase production scale to 100 MW in the next three years and expand in China. According to a release, ULVAC will participate in the expansion with its thin-film solar cell technology incorporating a tandem structure with a microcrystal layer.
In addition, Sunner Solar says it will use fifth-generation glass substrates in production lines composed of a thin-film formation process, including CVD, laser processing and sputtering systems, and a subsequent assembly process. ULVAC will supply the equipment and start-up production training, according to a company release.
