Adhoc CENTROSOLAR building one of Germany’s largest solar module plants in Wismar – overall module production in Germany/Netherlands gradually being increased to nearly 200 MWp
Centrosolar Group AG has plans for a drastic increase in its production capacity for photovoltaic modules. The company plans to spend Euro$20 million building a new, automated manufacturing plant for solar modules with a stated annual capacity of 150 MW.
The company says the project will most likely receive a 30% subsidy from the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and be built near the existing production location in Wismar. The remainder will be financed by bank loans and leasing, according to a company release.
In addition, the company’s facility in Doesburg (the Netherlands) is being extended, as a result of which it will become the largest module production plant in the country, Centrosolar says.
At present, the plant’s one production line achieves an annual production output of 10 MW. Two additional lines are now being built to take the annual capacity up to 45 MWp in total, the company says.
Overall, the production capacity in Europe for Centrosolar crystalline solar modules is being increased according to the following schedule, the company says, at the two locations: from a starting level of 40 MWp in 2007, the capacity for 2008 as a whole will double to 85 MWp, increasing again to around 165 MWp in 2009. Both locations will have a capacity of at least 195 MWp by the start of 2010.
The new plant at Wismar will produce fully automatic standard solar modules, but also special modules for integration into buildings and stand-alone off-grid systems.
According to the company. at least one of the new production lines will be equipped for laminating special modules using thin-film technologies. As well as manufacturing crystalline modules.
