Dell (NASDAQ:DELL) announced it would deliver the most energy-efficient products in the industry with configurations of its OptiPlex(TM) 745 and 740 corporate desktops designed to meet Energy Star 4.0 requirements. The company expects to be one of the first in the industry to complete its Energy Star 4.0 compliance work across multiple systems within its commercial desktops, notebooks and workstations product lines before the July 2007 deadline.
“Dell is committed to delivering the most energy-efficient products in the industry and we see Energy Star 4.0 as a new minimum requirement,” said Margaret Franco, director, Dell Product Group. “Our mission is to deliver the most energy efficient products, along with software and power management tools. This combination, which we call Dell Energy Smart, is where we will help customers cut energy consumption and save millions per year in their overall computing environments.”
The OptiPlex Energy Smart 745 and 740 feature 80 percent efficient power supplies that enable more efficient energy consumption management. Configured with flat panel monitors, these systems can help customers save up to 77 percent in power consumption compared to previous generation systems when combined with Energy Smart power settings.
Last month, the company enhanced its Dell Energy Smart solutions with the Dell PowerEdge(TM) Energy Smart 2970 server, which helps customers decrease power consumption and reduce overall operating costs within the data center. The PowerEdge Energy Smart 2970 can deliver up to 25 percent greater performance per watt while reducing power consumption by up to 21 percent compared to standard PowerEdge 2970 Servers.
