SolarWorld AG (SWV.F) announced its solar silicon wafer subsidiary, Deutsche Solar AG, has firm supply contracts in place for the next twelve years (2007 through 2018) amounting to a over Euro 2.3 billion, creating hundreds of solar jobs.
Some 70% of the orders come from outside the company’s base in Germany, with 36.5% from Asia. China and Taiwan alone account for 26.5% per cent of the business. This is followed by Europe (excluding Germany) with a share of 22.5%. 10% of the volume is for the USA.
"These orders alone secure 800 jobs in Germany for our company in the long term and thus also the additional expansion of our factories in Freiberg," says Prof. Dr. Peter Woditsch, CEO of Deutsche Solar AG.
SolarWorld is involved with the International Carbon Disclosure Project. It is one of a few German companies that participated in the largest climate protection survey in the capital market to date. The group systematically identified its greenhouse gas emissions and showed a positive C0² balance. The carbon dioxide emissions avoided by SolarWorld products in the year 2005 exceed the group-wide emissions caused in the same year by a factor of more than 20.
