SolarWorld-Konzern has landed one of its biggest export orders to date. The SolarWorld subsidiary, Deutsche Solar AG, will supply 350 million EUR worth of wafers to China.
Deutsche Solar AG has signed a contract with a well-known Chinese manufacturer of solar cells and solar modules. The contract will come into force this year and will run until the year 2018. The solar silicon wafers will come from the group’s wafer factory in Freiberg, Germany.
"With this new supply agreement, we will expand our engagement in China which is among the highest growth photovoltaic markets worldwide," says Dipl.-Ing. Frank H. Asbeck, Chairman and CEO of SolarWorld AG. "With our long-term export business we are making a contribution to securing our solar jobs in Germany at the same time."
The wafer-thin discs made of solar grade silicon by Deutsche Solar AG are the high-quality input material for the production of solar cells. Deutsche Solar AG supplies these wafers both for further processing within the group and also to external customers of the solar cell industry.
