Hydrogenics Establishes Global Supply Agreement with BOC

Published on: June 15, 2006

Hydrogenics Corporation (TSX:HYG.TO) (NasdaqNM:HYGS), a developer and manufacturer of hydrogen and fuel cell products, has established a five-year global supply agreement for the delivery of on-site hydrogen generation plants with BOC (London:BOC.L), one of the world’s largest industrial gas companies.

Under the agreement, Hydrogenics will provide BOC with hydrogen generation plants to be deployed at BOC’s customer sites and at BOC’s own facilities located any where around the world.

To date, BOC has purchased more than fifteen on-site hydrogen generation plants from Hydrogenics. Hydrogenics’ HySTAT(TM)-A on-site hydrogen generation plants provide high purity hydrogen used in a wide range of industrial applications, such as controlled atmospheres for heat treating, annealing or float glass production, hydrogenation of edible and non-edible oils, and semiconductor production. The plants are typically installed at remote locations where it is more cost effective to generate hydrogen on-site rather than distributing it from central production facilities to customer locations.

“Establishing a global supply agreement with BOC is evidence of the caliber of hydrogen generation equipment and services that Hydrogenics provides,” said Pierre Rivard, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hydrogenics. “Hydrogenics’ ongoing collaboration with BOC serves both companies well as global hydrogen demand continues to grow.”

Joseph Horn, vice president, global product marketing, BOC, said, “BOC’s agreement with Hydrogenics ensures our ability to meet our customers’ needs safely and reliably, whether they’re located in Europe or remote geographies of New Zealand, where generating on-site, high-purity hydrogen makes the most economic sense.
