EarthShell Corporation (OTCBB:ERTH) and its U.S. licensee ReNewable Products, Inc. (RPI) have signed three new, premiere supermarket chains to purchase EarthShell’s environmentally preferable disposable plates and bowls. These retailers join the list of recently announced new customers who have already begun selling EarthShell Dinnerware to consumers in the Midwest, on the West Coast and in the Northeast.
New customers include Wegmans Food Markets, a 71-store supermarket chain with locations in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia and Maryland. Founded in 1916, Wegmans is recognized as an industry leader and innovator. Additional new customers include Heinen’s Fine Foods, a premiere 16-store chain, serving the Cleveland, Ohio market since 1929 and Fishers Foods, serving the upstate Ohio area for over 70 years.
EarthShell foodservice disposable packaging is designed with the environment in mind. Developed over many years using a “life cycle inventory” and in consultation with leading environmental experts, EarthShell products reduce the environmental burdens of rigid food service packaging through the careful selection of raw materials, processes and suppliers. The products are made primarily from natural limestone and starch from potatoes, wheat or corn. The new packaging poses substantially fewer risks to wildlife than polystyrene foam packaging because it biodegrades when exposed to moisture in nature, physically disintegrates in water when crushed or broken, and can be composted in a commercial facility, where available, or in your backyard.
