American Power Conversion (Nasdaq: APCC), today announced that Disney Worldwide Services Inc., the global service unit of The Walt Disney Company, has selected four APC Symmetra MW uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units to protect and maintain power availability for Disney’s worldwide IT operations in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
The four Symmetra MW units will initially provide Disney with 4800kW of capacity, and offer the combined ability to add an additional 800kW of capacity to meet future demand. Disney expects to bring the four Symmetra units online next year.
The APC Symmetra MW is one of the largest, commercially available, static UPS products for facilities, data centers and other mission-critical applications. The Symmetra MW’s key advantages include its N+1 internal redundancy that provides high availability, as well as its scalable power capacity that eliminates UPS oversizing costs.
Dwight Sperry, APC’s vice president of Enterprise Systems and Business Networks, stated, “We are delighted to provide our modular, scalable UPS technology for data centers and facilities to Disney to support their critical IT operations.”
