SolarWorld AG tripled its profits for the first nine months of 2005, generating a profit after tax of 33.6 Euro compared to 10.3 million EUR last year.
Earnings before tax (EBT) rose to 53.2 million EUR (previous year: 16.0) while earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) increased to 57.4 million EUR (previous year: 19.5) and earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) went up to 71.2 million EUR (previous year: 31.7). All parts of the group contributed to the increased profit in spite of increased silicon prices. Sales revenues rose to 247.1 million EUR (previous year: 144.2).
Group profits in the third quarter of 2005 increased by 185 per cent over the same quarter last year to 15.1 million EUR (previous year: 5.3) and EBT improved to 24.3 million EUR (previous year: 8.5). In a quarter-on-quarter comparison group sales increased by 107 per cent to 110.5 million EUR (previous year: 53.4).
From the beginning of the year the number of employees increased by 125 to 741 persons.
SolarWorld AG increased its forecast for 2005 to sales of well over 300 EUR and net profit to more than 40 million EUR (previously more than 25), doubling from 2004.
